A Celebration of the Wild

Pure Wild Honeybush was born in the mountains of the Langkloof, at the southern tip of Africa, where wild fynbos thrives between sea and sky. From this ancient landscape comes Cyclopia intermedia, the fragrant plant that gives our tea its golden hue and naturally honeyed flavour.

Our story began with a simple idea: to honour this indigenous treasure by crafting a product that supports the land and the people who care for it. Founded by Natasja Smith, a conservationist with deep roots in the fynbos biome, Pure Wild Honeybush connects biodiversity, heritage, and wellness in every cup.

Be Wild, Stay Pure

Our motto “Be & Be Wild” is more than a tagline — it’s a philosophy. We believe that nature knows best. That’s why our tea grows wild and uncultivated, untouched by irrigation, pesticides, or fertilisers. It is harvested by hand with respect for the rhythms of the mountain, ensuring both purity and regeneration.

Our operations are powered by solar energy, creating a sustainable cycle from harvest to teabag. We are proud to produce locally, harvested in the Langkloof, processed in our valley factory, and teabagged in Cape Town, ensuring freshness and keeping value in the community.

Community and Collaboration

Pure Wild Honeybush is built on partnership. Three local farmers hold equity in the company, ensuring shared benefit and long-term stewardship of the land. We work closely with Che Roberts and the Hilltop Empowerment Centre, combining renewable energy innovation with community development.

Together we’re not only reviving a factory but also restoring opportunity creating jobs, training harvesters, and inspiring a new generation of sustainable producers.

Cultural Integrity

For centuries, the Khoisan people have harvested and brewed honeybush, guided by a principle called !Nanna-se, a word that means respect and humility towards the plant to retain its strength.

We honour this tradition by supporting fair participation and benefit-sharing with First Nations communities, keeping their wisdom alive within our work.
